The Evolution of the Peruvian Navajero Gamefowls in the Philippine Cockfighting Arena"

"The Evolution of the Peruvian Navajero Gamefowls in the Philippine Cockfighting Arena"

I remember sometime in 2014, a very few have had known these Peruvian Navajero Gamefowls yet. Thou it was a little early than that time where the popular Vilac have fought and champ several derbies using its own graded or blends. Not until, a late good friend Engr. Luisito Ocobillo owner of Redcomb GF was so vocal about it over the internet through various sites like the Sabong.net. Infact he was one of those elite backyard breeders in the Philippines to have acquired such breed from Peru and US sometime around late 2009. Due to the scarcity of the breed that time, infact Redcomb before became the source of Peruvian Gamefowl breeding materials of the many known Peruvian Breeders of this time. Thou this breed was criticized by many, still a lot became so much interested of them because of the very good characteristics as to their height, body conformation and fighting style and other potential traits they posses despite of their ugly oriental looks. Another man too, who owned such breed much early than Redcomb was Engr. Leonardo Austria, owner of APR Gamefarm in Bataan who contributed a lot too in making this breed famous and thou too many to mention, names such as Kate Kurt, Ragamak, Garces, RDM, Dr. Moral and a lot more, became known. The Philippine Peruvian Gamefowl Breeders Organization Inc. (PPGBOI) was founded which pave way for the evolution of peruvian navajero gamefowls in the Philippine cockfighting arena and hosted the 1st ever Philippine Peruvian Derby 2017 in Cebu where Garces and  RDM Gallos Peruanos became co-Champions. This was followed by Battle of the Heavy Weights held in Luzon.
The so-called "peruvian fowl mania" continues upto now. Posts in social media such as facebook and youtube where bombarded by amazing spars and pit fight videos using pure or graded ones in almost "where-the-hackfights" are and various derbies everywhere across the country. Infact, there were couple of Battle of the Giant Derbies that were successfully held already in Luzon last 2018 participated by various peruvian breeders and enthusiasts. These fowls however, were badly criticized by many people who disliked them before but now became a fan after. Gamefowl enthusiasts, cockers and breeders who became so much interested about it tremendously grew in numbers. Even the country's first ever peruvian gamefowl group founded in FB, known as the "Philippine Peruvian Breeders Club" gained a significant increase in its members since then, which inspired other enthusiasts to found other peruvian gamefowl groups and pages in FB. They continously multiply, that in a span of 5 years since then, it was amazing to know that many of the backyard breeders now have these type of fowls in their own backyard or farm.
These type of fowl now seem to be the "common fowl of the many" or the "apple of the eye" of the common backyard breeders. The most talk about breed of gamefowl in social media and the "tale of the tape" videos of the most facebook gamefowl posters that owns such breed in the country. Why? In an interview before of Ragamak Gamefowl ( now known as RAGAMAK EDS GENESIS GF) in 2015 "Bakbakan Na" Episode and in 2016 Episode of "Tukaan Na" and early Episode of "Salpukan 360", it was first shown how great these type of fowls were breed, hatched and raised in cages in their very small backyard space in Bacoor Cavite without compromising their health and capabilities to fight. Those interviews inspired so many backyard breeders and enthusiasts to acquire such breed and follow the same set up that Ragamak did and to much surprise being followed by many even until this days.
Today, peruvian gamefowl breeders in the country were so dedicated in improving their own blend. Some even come up with their own locally made Peruvian Bloodlines like the famous Peruvian Raza Negra, Peruvian Rapid Fire Line, Troyano Navajero or Trojan Black Line, Peruvian Amarillo, Peruvian Kalawang Line, Peruvian Broken-Wing Line, Peruvian Heroine, Peruvian Oscuro, Yellow line and a lot more which they keep and continously test on actual battles in the pit.
Battle of the Giants will continue and will remain a legacy founded by Mr. Richard Magat of  RDM Gallos Peruanos and Mr. Allan Giron and a lot more of Peruvian Derbies and Promotions to follow through or planned in the coming years. Indeed, as competition becomes tougher, more and more are pushed to the limits of their abilities to breed, raise and fight.

"For in the world of cockfighting, No one stays on top.." It is always a battle of one breeder against his bettering self.

Happy Breeding to All...

10 Things You Might Want to Ponder about Breeding and Raising Peruvian Navajero Gamefowls...

By: Ragamak Gallo This is a "True But Not All Times" facts about Peruvian Gamefowls. For most of the Newbies the impression is They all come in Big and Super fowl. But for those some who have breed them already this is No Longer True. The breeders in Peru Do Not  agree on some points and have also different points of view so as the breeders based in USA. Their opinions differ from one another. The ideal Peru Navajero fighting weight is 3.5 to 4.5 and up. This is one of the reason why they maintain such size and cull those who are below this weight standard. There were some breeders also in Peru from the past claimed of having only 3.2kg average breed. So, is 3.2kg small or big? Well it depends on you now. Here are some of the true but not all facts pertaining to why and how some have small breed in the Philippines. No.1 True but not all times - Inbreeding make them small. There would still be some that would grow beyond what you expect. No.2 True but not all times - Sma

Peruvian Navajero...Is it Pure? Is it Big? Does it Matter?

By: Ragamak Gallo - Peruvian Navajeros literally are type of gamefowls used by Peruanos in Peru using " Long Knife" or " Navaja - from which the term Navajero came from. These type of fowls were breed out of different blood mostly Oriental like Asil, Shamo, Malay etc. etc. etc. which make them more Oriental-looking than not. They break high, they shuffle well, they cut deep with real speed and power and often times feet-out or feet fully extended during spars. More often than not, they come really Big in size which often put those that are Not in question. But this should not be a determinant for a Peruvian to be considered Pure just because of the size. Bear in mind that Peruvian fowls were already a product of a cross so the issue on Purity is neither the less should be given so much concern. A Pure Peruvian Fowl is a type that Do Not Bear American blood on it, otherwise we termed it "graded/downgraded or simply a cross." The term " Pure " anyway
